Big Adventures. Prize Catches.

Twin Islands offers guests inland waters fishing charters. This includes fishing for salmon and assorted rockfish. If your adventurous soul is looking for halibut, we will arrange a halibut charter company to pick you up at our dock. We use local guides who have been fishing these waters their whole lives. All of our guides are Coast Guard certified, and our fishing boat accommodates up to six people. We will provide all bait, tackle, and gear, including Xtratuf® rubber boots, rain jackets, and life vests, as well as a gourmet boxed lunch to enjoy.

You can pre-purchase your fishing license online or pick it up in town.

Sitka, Alaska, is home to the best saltwater fishing in the world, bar none—and it’s all mere minutes from Twin Islands Retreat. A variety of prize catches are found in Sitka Sound, including all five species of wild Pacific salmon: chum salmon, king salmon, pink salmon, silver salmon, and sockeye salmon. Monster halibut, rockfish, lingcod, sablefish, and cod are plentiful, too.

We’ll send you off on your expedition with a gourmet picnic lunch, and your guides will provide all the bait, tackle, and gear you need to reel in the big one!

One of the best parts of your fishing trip is that after your day is through and you are relaxing in the Alaska Room by a roaring fire, we process your catch for you, so you can take it home. At Twin Islands Retreat, we clean, fillet, vacuum seal, freeze and pack your catch in an insulated waxed fish box that can be checked as luggage on the plane.

Day Wildlife Excursion

Looking for the best whale watching in Alaska? You’ve come to the right place. Sitka Sound and the North Pacific attract a diverse array of whales, porpoises, seals, sea lions, sea otters, and marine birds. Whale watching tours are available from early spring until the end of fall and include a boxed lunch and beverages. Tours are approximately 2.5 hours and are $200. per person; minimum of three people, maximum of six people.

Hiking and Trails

Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned mountaineer, Sitka offers walking and hiking trails for every skill level, from ADA accessible paths at Sitka National Historical Park, to expert backcountry treks in the Tongass National Forest. We provide transportation to your chosen trail head, as well as available maps, and backpacks stocked with snacks and beverages

Kayaking and Paddle Boarding

Enjoy the spectacular views surrounding Twin Islands from the water, and at your own pace. The Sitka Sound offers some of the greatest sea kayak paddling in the world, and we have single and double kayaks, and paddleboards, available for you to explore the generally calm waters surrounding Twin Islands Retreat. We also supply Xtratuf® rubber boots, rain jackets, and life vests.

Communing with Nature

Regarded as the jewel of the Pacific, Sitka is a magnificent island community where each day the mountains, sea, and rain forest work in unison to stir your senses of awe and wonder. Notable natives of the area include marine life such as whales, dolphins, porpoises, sea otters, sea lions, and harbor seals. In the air and on the mountains are eagles, mountain goats, deer and the real star of the salmon season, the Sitka brown bear. Bring your binoculars and a camera so you donʼt miss the grandeur!
